Yesterday morning I sat in front of the computer for four hours.
Four hours. Six-thirty AM to ten-thirty AM. Or something like that. The kids slept for part of that time and then woke up and watched movies.
You would think I would get a lot of writing done in that time. You would think. I ended up forcing out one and a half pages. I read over it, and it was crap. (Oh, sorry, is that word offensive?) It was trash.
In these one and a half pages my protagonist wakes from a nap, talks to the cat, walks down to eat dinner with her Aunt, and has a conversation about the different types of magic (“black magic,” “slight-of-hand,” and “storybook magic”). Yes, it was just as bad as it sounds. Also she closes her eyes and rubs her magic ring at the dinner table, then realizes she shouldn’t do the magic in front of her aunt so she says she’s going to bed early. And that’s it. That’s what I wrote in four hours.
Some of what I write is interesting, I promise. This story is going to sweep you away.
